Three lucky Russians got the chance to live, work and play in Albany, NY for two weeks.    Tula natives: Dmitry Dremlyuga, Anna Naumova, and Kira Kurakova won an Internship Contest offered by the ATA last September. The ATA found time this month to make good on the promise to host them here in Albany.   Anna’s husband Dmitrii and ATA friend/environmentalist, Mikhaul Budenkov, along hopped the flight over to enjoy the adventure.

During the first week, the interns received side-by-side training and instruction with several Capital Region businesses, like the Times Union, Price Chopper, Lingualinx and Grammery Communications in Troy.   Anna and Kira proudly work for the largest digital agency in Eastern Europe called Ingate.   The company has two service centers located in Tula, Russia that specializes in search engine optimization, media advertising and social media.  Dmitry Dremlyuga owns a small computer repair business in Tula called GeekPRO.   He was especially excited for the opportunity to spend time at the Apple store in Crossgates Mall with the tech department.

“I’m learning so much about effective business practices here in Albany,” says Anna Naumova.  “I especially like that Americans focus on building relationships with their clients to grow.”

On Day 1, our interns got to sit down with Albany's 75th mayor, Kathy Sheehan. Elected to Mayoral office in 2014, Sheehan understands the economic and cultural value of fostering international relationships like the Albany-Tula Alliance.
